State Officials Open Independent Channel After Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Limits Local Access

MINNEAPOLIS — Following the fatal shooting of Renee Good on January 7, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty have launched a joint evidence-gathering initiative. Because local state investigators (the BCA) have been restricted from the federal evidence file, they are turning to the public to build an independent state-level case.
Where to Submit Your Evidence
Officials are asking for any cell phone footage, dashcam recordings, or Ring doorbell video taken near Portland Avenue between East 33rd and 34th Streets on the morning of January 7, 2026.
Official Submission Link:
HCAO & MNAGO Evidence Portal Alternative: If you have physical evidence or wish to speak with an investigator directly, contact the Hennepin County Attorney's Office at (612) 348-5550.
What Type of Evidence is Needed?
The Moments Leading Up: Footage of ICE vehicles stuck in the snow or interacting with neighbors prior to 9:30 AM.
The Shooting: Any angle of the maroon Honda Pilot or the ICE agents' Nissan Titan during the confrontation.
The Aftermath: Video showing the response time of emergency medical services and the behavior of federal agents after the shots were fired.
Why This Matters
Attorney General Ellison emphasized that "every moment after a fatal use-of-force incident matters." By submitting to the state portal, you ensure that your evidence is part of a transparent state review, rather than being held exclusively in a "blocked" federal file.
Privacy & Safety
The portal is hosted by Axon Community Request. You can choose to remain anonymous, though providing contact information helps prosecutors verify the footage for potential court use.
